If you're an independent artist on SoundCloud, you've probably wondered: how am I actually doing? SoundCloud doesn't offer an official ranking system, which makes it hard to gauge your progress compared to other creators.
That's exactly why we built the SoundCloud Score Calculator — a free tool that analyzes your public SoundCloud profile and gives you a score from 0 to 100.
How the SoundCloud Score Works
Your score is calculated from four key metrics:
- Follower count — reflects your overall notoriety and audience size
- Track count — measures your productivity and catalog depth
- Total plays — indicates your reach and content consumption
- Engagement rate — likes and reposts relative to your plays, showing how much your audience interacts with your music
These four factors are weighted together to produce a single score out of 100.
The 5 Score Grades
Your score places you into one of five grades:
- Newcomer (0–20) — You're just getting started. Focus on uploading consistently and engaging with the community.
- Rising (21–40) — Your profile is gaining traction. Keep building your catalog and promoting your tracks.
- Established (41–60) — You have a solid presence. Consider collaborations and cross-platform promotion.
- Advanced (61–80) — Strong profile with real audience engagement. You're among the top independent creators.
- Elite (81–100) — Top-tier presence on SoundCloud. You've built something remarkable.
What's Considered a "Good" Score?
There's no universal answer — it depends on your goals and where you are in your journey. But here are some general benchmarks:
- Just starting out? A score of 15–30 is completely normal. Focus on consistency.
- Been active for a year? Aim for 35–55. If you're below that, look at your engagement — are listeners interacting with your music?
- Serious about music? 60+ puts you in the top tier of independent artists on the platform.
Remember: followers alone don't make a great score. An artist with 2,000 highly engaged followers can score higher than someone with 10,000 passive ones.
How to Improve Your Score
- Upload regularly — Consistency signals an active, serious artist
- Engage with your community — Reply to comments, repost other artists, join groups
- Promote strategically — Share tracks on social media, submit to playlists and blogs
- Quality over quantity — Well-produced tracks generate more engagement per play
